About Hughes for America
So why am I here? I have a lot of things on my mind, and I figured joining the Blogosphere would be the best way to speak my mind. Besides, there aren't enough blogs out there anyway.
What will you see on Hughes for America?
What will you see here? You'll see my thoughts on politics, culture, sports, music, anything. I'm a Democrat and proud of it. I'm a liberal and proud of it. I'm outspoken on my views and wouldn't have it any other way. You'll also find humor sprinkled throughout my rants, raves and opinions. Because, if we can't laugh, then the terrorists have won.
If you like it, that's great. If you don't like it, well that's great, too. I'm not here to kiss ass or mend fences, I'm here to speak my mind and have a great time doing it.
Who are you?
The man behind Hughes for America is 29-year-old Joseph Hughes, a writer and award-winning designer. I have written for print publications, television/radio as well as for the Web, am a trained copywriter and copy editor and am also well-versed in public relations. As a designer, I have worked for myriad clients, ranging from a middle school drama department to a university's athletics ticket office to a city looking to promote itself. My emphasis is on printed design, but I am also well-versed in creating Web graphics and creative consulting. If you're interested in very affordable, very competitive freelance writing or award-winning graphic design, please e-mail me.
I have a bachelor of science degree in journalism (news writing and editing) and a master of science (journalism/public relations) from Ohio University. My areas of specialization as an undergraduate student were history and sociology. My master's professional project focused on the reaction at Ohio University to the Kent State shootings in 1970.
An avid reader, I also spend my spare time listening to music, enjoying the company of others and watching my favorite teams compete. I enjoy traveling and revel in the joy of finding a new experience. I live with my wonderful girlfriend Casey and our cat, Bea Arthur.
